The story behind Clémence
When I first created Clémence Organics, it came from a place that was very personal.
At the time, I was working as a naturopath and seeing so many women in clinic who were struggling to find skincare that really supported their skin. So many products were either full of harsh ingredients, or they were gentle but didn’t really do very much. I felt there had to be a better way.
I wanted to create skincare that felt beautiful to use, worked beautifully, and was made with ingredients I felt good about putting on my own skin and on the skin of the people I loved.
The very first product I made was actually for my dad (pictured here with me as a baby), while he was undergoing radiation treatment for throat cancer. Our SOS Balm. His skin had become sore, fragile and reactive, and I wanted to create something that would help soothe and protect it in the gentlest possible way.
It helped his skin so much that even the nurses caring for him commented on how much better it was than what they had been using.
That experience stayed with me.
My dad passed away, and a few years after that, I lost my sister, who I love so very much, to cancer as well. That only deepened what I already knew in my heart.
It shaped the way I thought about skin, and the way I still think about it now. That skin doesn’t need to be “fought” or stripped back to look healthy. It needs support, nourishment, and products that work with it, not against it.
Even now, as my own skin changes through perimenopause, I find myself coming back to that same philosophy again and again. I still want my skincare to feel gentle, supportive and effective, and I know so many women are looking for that too.
That’s what Clémence has always been about.
If you’ve ever wondered why I care so much about ingredients, why our formulas are created so intentionally, or why I speak so often about supporting the skin barrier, this is really where it all began.
